I would be glad to use a Mylio alternative and I've tested many DAMs (DigiKam, Darktable's Library, ACDSee, Daminion, iMatch, PhotoSupreme, ImageRanger), none of them beeing adequate. I've asked on this forum many times and didn't ever get a single answer. There are plenty of other freeware alternatives wich are quite good. Sigh, another renting scheme. Some people here on dpreview have way more then 25.000 images. The second frustration was that Mylio always needed the sidecars, and using them for the DNGs that my camera produced was awkward and frustrating.īut it's definitely worth a look especially for those that might need to spread lots of images over many sources. One was that Lr got much better, in that instead of Lr desktop and Lr Mobile they went to the Lr Classic/CC model, and although that structure has issues I could make it work for my sharing purposes across devices. Nor is metadata management as good as in iMatch, Lr, Photo Mechanic, or even Bridge IMHO. Image adjustment isn't in the Lr/C1 league at all of course. Essentially it's passing small sidecars around. Not only can you synch across numerous devices on various platforms, but you also get a lot of control over say synching a thumbnail, preview or full image. It's salient point, and why I used it, was it's synching abilities. You can store in the cloud (and AFAIK you have several choices), but it works fine with local storage. To correct a misconception written earlier, it does NOT require cloud storage. I used Mylio in a paid version on macOS for a couple of years, and in general, kind of liked it.
